Old St. Vincent Church Council
(Friends of Old St. Vincent Board)

The Old St. Vincent Church Council consist of elected members from the Old St. Vincent Faith Community. The Church Council was organized to assist the pastor with the ministries performed at Old St. Vincent Church. There are nine members of the council that will rotate off membership at 1, 2 & 3 year intervals. Listed below are the members with pictures and brief biographies.

Fr_Tom_KieferFr. Tom Kiefer, Pastor
Fr. Tom became pastor of St. Mary Cathedral and Old St. Vincent Church in 2003. The Church Council was organized to assist the pastor with the ministries performed at Old St. Vincent Church. The church council, in turn, relies on the spiritual direction and guidance that Fr. Tom so willingly gives to assist the council members in reaching their mission.

Chuck Ross, President
member, and was recently elected vice president. He serves the OSV community as a Eucharistic Minister & Lector. He and his wife, Nancy, are long time residents of Cape Girardeau, and he is the owner
Dennis Seyer
Dennis C. Seyer, Vice-President
Dennis has been a member of Old St. Vincent Church since 1977. Since then he has continued to serve as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector & Usher. He is presently serving his second term as a church council member until 2012, and his second term as president. He is presently a member of the O.S.V. Website Committee. He is a retired professor from Southeast Missouri State University, and is currently a travel agent and a performing arts promoter. Dennis is a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #1111 and a Fourth Degree member of T. A. Langen Assembly #568.
Theresa_Taylor Theresa has been a member of Old St. Vincents for 20 years and is currently serving her first term as a church council member. She serves the OSV community as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Gift bearer and Greeter. She also organizes and trains the Mass servers. Theresa teaches at Cape Central High School.

Mark Mueller
Mark, along with his wife, Beth, has been long time residents of Cape Girardeau, have three grown children, and are strong supporters of Catholic education. Mark received his undergraduate degree from Southeast Missouri State Missouri, and along with his twin brother, Steve, are owners of Stev-Mark Decorating Centre. Ever since he became a member of Old St. Vincent Church, Mark has had a serious interest in the historic preservation of the church. On many occasions he has contributed his time, talent, and his creative sense of historic preservation when called upon for repairs to the church. He is most appreciative of what the Catholic religion has given to him throughout his life, and wishes in return to give back to the church with his service on the council. Mark's term on the council will end in 2014.

Janice Shirley
Janice Berry Shirley attended St. Mary Cathedral Elementary School, Notre Dame High School, and earned her teaching degree from Southeast Missouri State University. After graduation she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Shirley, and they have been married for forty-six years. They have two daughters, Lisa & Robin, who are both teachers as well. She is very proud of their two grand-children, Ryan, 5 and Leah, 1. She has spent many years as a teacher in the Ava, Missouri R-1 School District and, upon retiring from that school district, she & Robert moved back to their hometown of Cape Girardeau. Janice has been an active member of Old St. Vincent Church serving as both a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector at Sunday Mass. She has an interest in collecting antiques, gardening (V-P of Four Seasons Garden Club), and is an animal activist. One of her goals is to serve Old St. Vincent Church as a member of the Church Council. Janice's term on the council will end in 2014.

Annie_EvansAnnie Evans
When called upon to serve on the council, Annie Evans took on the office of Secretary for two terms. She continues to perform duties during Mass by assisting as an Eucharistic Minister, Gift Bearer, and Greeter. She was recently elected to her second three-term that will end in 2012.
Tony Dohogne
Tony has spent his entire life as a member of Old St. Vincent Church. He was baptized, made his First Holy Communion, and was Confirmed at Old St. Vincent's. He had also served on the church restoration committee and as president of the Old St. Vincent Group. He is extremely knowledgeable regarding the church's history and leads tours of the church. Tony also serves an a Eucharistic Minister. He was recently elected to his second term on the church council serving until 2012, and continues to serve on the Building and Grounds Committee.
David Kieffer
David was recently re-elected to serve on the church council for a second three year term. He is active in the duties at Mass by assisting as a Eucharistic Minister and as an usher. He is a real estate agent in the Cape Girardeau area.

Larry_SimonLarry Simon
Larry joined Old St. Vincent Church in 2006, and is currently serving his first year of his first term as a church council member. He serves the OSV community as a Eucharistic Minister, Gift Bearer, and Greeter. He is a charter member of Knights of Columbus Council #11205. He retired as a Supervising Engineer from Ameren Missouri in 2003, and currently owns and operates LCS Refinishing, LLC, a furniture refinishing business.
