Bishop Rice presents the Papal document to Monsignor Varone.
Monsignor Varone informs parishioners that he was wondering what the Bishop was doing at this Mass that he was responsible for and about being totally surprised with this new “Monsignor” honor.
Monsignor Varone gives his first “Monsignor” blessing at the conclusion of Mass
Bishop Rice reads a letter from The Most Reverend Christophe Pierre, Nuncio, announcing that Father Varone has received Papal Honors as a Chaplain to His Holiness with the title of Monsignor – Father Normand G. Varone.

Monsignor is congratulated by many of his close friends who did a great job of keeping the secret from him.
